In 1980, he received a Fulbright Teaching Exchange Award to France and he went there to teach English. He found much pleasure in teaching his own language. In 1981, he pursued a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at UCLA, the University of California, Los Angeles. Ever since then he began to teach English as a foreign language abroad for nearly 20 years.
In 2000, he was back in the States and stayed home for seven months. He spent with his family all those holidays he missed over the years: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, birthdays. After January, he felt the need to return to work. China was the easiest option because English teachers were in great need here.
He arrived in China in 2001. He is very fond of China and Chinese people. His regret is that he did not come here sooner. |
