As you probably know, the United States of America not only has a powerful economy, but also is at the cutting-edge of science and technological development. As an indicator, of all Nobel Prize winners (including literature and peace prize) by nationality, 61% are American citizens. If we count only those in science and economics, this could come to 85%.
