The Regions of Canada
With
an area of nearly 10 million square kilometres, Canada is the second
largest country in the world. Only Russia is bigger. Located on
the North American continent, Canada stretches
“from sea to sea”
(the country's motto)—bordered
by the Pacific Ocean on the west coast and the Atlantic Ocean on
the east coast. To the south, lies the United States.
Whereas many national borders are fenced of and patrolled
in order to control people entering and leaving, Canada and the
US share the
longest undefended
national border in the world,
a symbol of their good relations.
Canada
occupies about half of the North American continent, and in size
at least can consider Mexico and the United States its "little
brothers". Its physical geography includes mountains, rivers,
oceans, and prairies and a variety of different climates. Canada
consists of ten
provinces and two territories, and the nature, culture and
economic life of these provinces are largely dictated
by their terrain.
