Lesson Seventeen: SEEING THE DOCTOR ( I )
Part C   Oral Practice
Role-play: Work in pairs. One of you is to be the patient who has a case of the flu and the other the doctor. Make a dialogue of your own. Try to use the following expressions in your dialogue.
Doctor:

— What’s the matter with you?
— What seems to be the trouble?
— Open your mouth. Say ‘Ah’.
— Let me feel your pulse / take your temperature / give you an injection / give you some
  medicine.
— You have a temperature / You have a case of the flu.
— Take the medicine every four hours/ after each meal / before each meal.
— Drink plenty of water. Stay in bed for a few days.

Patient:
— I have a headache / a fever / a sore throat / a bad cough, etc.
— My arms and legs feel weak. I can’t get to sleep at night.
— I feel terrible / very bad.
— What’s wrong with me, doctor?
— When do I take the medicine?
